The DBS Volante adds to the coupe everything people want from a big open Aston: the naturally aspirated V12, the stretched shape and a sense of occasion that stays strong even at a standstill. The convertible is not as sharp as the coupe, but it compensates with drama, noise and a feeling that every trip matters. A Porsche 911 Cabriolet remains more compact; the DBS Volante leans much harder on charisma and a noble engine.
It still remains a proper DBS, with carbon-ceramic brakes, a `517 hp` V12 and running costs to match. The choice between manual gearbox and `Touchtronic` changes the experience a lot, with the manual now especially sought after. As with many high-end convertibles, roof quality, seal condition and the stiffness the car still feels through the body matter almost as much as the engine itself.
