Bentley Brooklands II (2008-2011)

The `Brooklands II` is a completely unusual object, even by Bentley standards. An immense coupe with no visible central pillar, powered by the old 6.75-litre biturbo pushed to a very high level, it feels like the deliberately excessive conclusion to a line that still refused moderation. Next to a Maserati GranTurismo, it looks less agile but far more monumental and almost wonderfully anachronistic.

This model was never meant to appeal to everybody. It is built around thrust, presence and an atmosphere impossible to reproduce with more compact architectures. That means extra attention around the `6.75 biturbo V8`, the automatic gearbox, the huge braking system, but also the special pillarless coupe structure, the enormous doors and the side windows, all of which must stay perfectly coherent despite the mass.
