Plan d’maintenance Cadillac DeVille (EL12)

With the EL12 generation the DeVille reaches a kind of peak before Cadillac completely changes its design language and strategy. Everything that fans of large American cars appreciate is here: deep seats, a Northstar V8, very low noise levels and generous equipment. In travelling character it sits closer to a Mercedes S-Class grand tourer than to any ordinary saloon, but with a far more relaxed and less rigorous feel behind the wheel.

The DHS and DTS variants differ in presentation and focus without changing the core issue: the 4.6 Northstar demands proper attention to cooling, the 4T80-E automatic and the active suspension. On these large front-drive Cadillacs, exceptional comfort can mask expensive mechanical problems building in the background. A DeVille EL12 must therefore always be read as an ageing luxury car, not as a simple large old saloon at a bargain price.
