The Punto Evo Abarth marked a real turning point for the `199` family, with the arrival of MultiAir and a much more demonstrative style than the original Grande Punto. Its `163 hp` 1.4 turbo, or `180 hp` in Esseesse form, let it target cars like the Opel Corsa OPC while still staying usable day to day for its class.
The engine has more mid-range availability, which suits the Punto's size well on secondary roads. The steering can feel less filtered than on a German rival, but the package remains effective thanks to TTC, the long wheelbase and brakes that can cope as long as the maintenance has been done.
