The `DB AR1`, short for `American Roadster 1`, is far more than a normal DB7 derivative with different styling. Built by Zagato for the US market, without a conventional proper roof and with its distinctive rear humps, it makes much more sense as a rolling collector object than as a regular convertible. Next to a Mercedes-Benz SL, it trades versatility for absolute rarity.

Under that unusual skin, you still find the `5.9 V12` with `426 hp` and the `Touchtronic`, which confirms a grand-touring character rather than anything radical. The real issue begins once you move beyond the engine spec sheet and into body panels, fit, trim and all the parts that separate an AR1 from an ordinary DB7. Ownership cost is defined less by the V12 itself than by the ability to preserve a rare and complete car.
