With the facelift from `2012`, the `RS5 Coupe 8T` became for many buyers the most appealing version of the first `RS5`: the same naturally aspirated `V8`, but in a more mature and more modern-looking package. Against a Porsche 911 or a highly powered Mercedes C-Class, it remains more of a fast all-round GT than the last word in aggression. That is exactly why it is attractive as a used car, but it still demands a very sound technical base.
Mechanically it keeps the `4.2 FSI`, `S tronic` and `quattro`, so the same core questions remain: ignition, intake deposits, oil quality, cooling and proper gearbox follow-up. On the later phase you also need to read larger wheel and brake packages, extra equipment and therefore more electronics that all need to work coherently. A good facelift should not just look fresher than the early car; it should feel more complete as well.
