Built from July 2024 onwards, the revised BMW i4 keeps its formula as an electric four-door coupé while clarifying the lineup and refreshing the interface and presentation. Rather than a radical departure, it delivers a characteristically BMW blend of driving pleasure, build quality and versatility in comparison with the Tesla Model 3. The most significant addition is a genuine `xDrive40`, which brings clearer separation between the rear-wheel-drive variants and the M derivative.
The range is now structured around the `eDrive35` at `286 hp`, the `eDrive40` at `340 hp`, the new `xDrive40` at `401 hp` and the `M50 xDrive` at `544 hp`, with an `83.9 kWh` battery on the higher-spec versions and DC charging up to `205 kW` (`180 kW` on the eDrive35). On this generation, the maintenance review should focus on fast-charging quality, preconditioning, range consistency, cooling stability and reducer behaviour - especially on cars that regularly combine motorway runs with HPC sessions.
