The facelifted `RS3 Sedan 8V`, introduced in `2017`, is one of the most appreciated forms of Audi's modern sporting compact: five cylinders, all-wheel drive, a discreet saloon shape and genuine performance. Against a more restrained premium compact, it is judged less on equipment than on the quality of engine, transmission and chassis follow-up. It is an easy car to like, but not one to maintain by halves.
At the centre of the story is the `2.5 TFSI` `DAZA` with `400 hp`, paired with `S tronic` and a `quattro` system built around `Haldex`. The engine is robust when followed properly, but you still need to watch ignition, cooling, oil services, the condition of the turbocharging system and the seriousness of any modifications. The `S tronic`, rear coupling, brakes and tyres also reveal a lot about the car's real use.
