From `2011` to `2015`, the facelifted `S4 B8` refines an already convincing recipe. Against a BMW 3 Series, it remains a very fast, discreet and easy-to-live-with saloon or estate, with a package that usually feels more mature than the early phase. On the used market it is often the most logical version to target, but only if you do not let a tidy presentation and simple sensation of speed do all the talking.
The core subject remains the supercharged `EA837` `3.0 TFSI`, especially with `S tronic`, using year-dependent codes such as `CGWC`, `CGXC`, `CTUB` or later `CREC`. The engine can be genuinely enjoyable if it has been followed properly, but you still need to read the water pump, thermostat, `PCV`, ignition, oil consumption level and oil-service history. The `S tronic`, `quattro` system and any sport differential also need a serious test, especially on cars that were already tuned or driven hard.
