The DBS Superleggera Volante is one of those convertibles bought first for raw emotion. Its `725 hp` twin-turbo `V12`, fabric roof and the style of a modern big Aston create a very specific mix, both aristocratic and violently fast. Unlike a Porsche 911 Cabriolet, it plays an almost excessive register based on torque and presence rather than compactness.
Despite its size, the car keeps real chassis guidance and damping able to cope with the power. That only works if the structure, roof and rear axle are all impeccable. The Volante adds rigidity and sealing demands to an already heavily stressed drivetrain, which means the maintenance standard has to be even higher than on the equivalent coupe.
