Buick Enclave I (2007-2012)

Introduced for the 2008 model year, the `Enclave` gave Buick its first truly modern large family crossover. Built on the `Lambda` platform, it offered seven seats, easy third-row access and a calmer, more insulated character than its GMC and Chevrolet relatives. The `3.6-litre V6` remained the reference engine, tuned more for smooth highway work than for real urgency.

That formula mainly appealed to families wanting minivan space without moving to a harsher full-size SUV. Compared with a Chevrolet Traverse, the Enclave feels quieter and more polished, but it carries the same burdens of a heavy front-wheel-drive or AWD crossover: tyres, brakes and the cooling system all work hard when the car tows or spends its life fully loaded.
