Launched at the end of 2004, the `Audi A6 C6` pushed Audi into a much more technological phase in the executive-car segment. It normalised the `MMI`, looked more imposing and raised perceived quality again, then took on the BMW 5 Series with a calmer but more insulated character. The `allroad` quickly broadened the range with air suspension, which also broadened the list of used-car checks.
The market centres on the `2.0 TDI`, `2.7 TDI V6`, `3.0 TDI V6`, `2.4/3.2 FSI` and the `ZF 6HP Tiptronic` on the most sought-after versions. The `2.7` and `3.0 TDI` are the engines that really give the A6 C6 its long-distance personality, but they need a strict reading of cooling health, intake flaps, `EGR` condition and late-life chain noise. The `MMI` and comfort systems also matter heavily: on this generation, electronic luxury matters almost as much as the engine.
