Launched in `2015`, the Audi `R8 II 4S` changes tone noticeably compared with the first generation: stiffer, sharper, more digital, and above all powered exclusively by the `5.2 FSI V10`. Against a Porsche 911, it remains Audi's interpretation of the usable supercar, but with a level of performance and cost that demands a very strict read of the history, usage and consumables.
The market centres on the `540 hp V10 quattro`, the `610 hp V10 plus` and then a few `RWS` cars late in the period, all paired with the `S tronic`. The structure mixing aluminium and composite elements, the very high-revving naturally aspirated engine and the more serious aerodynamics make the car superb to drive, but also highly sensitive to maintenance quality: cooling, gearbox, brakes, tyres and alignment do not forgive approximation. The `R8 II` is not a decorative-service-book car.
