The Audi `R8 LMS ultra` introduced in `2012` is not a road `R8` turned a bit harder, but a true customer `GT3` from the Audi Sport programme. Against a racing Porsche 911, it must be judged on operating history, hours, update level and the quality of the team that looked after it. Displayed mileage or cosmetic condition only have secondary value here.
The `LMS ultra` evolves the first `R8 LMS` with a racing `V10`, sequential gearbox, revised aerodynamics, targeted weight saving and a maintenance logic dictated by engine hours, transmission hours, suspension, brakes, dampers, clutch, wiring and safety components. On this type of car, the right question is never 'does it look good?' but 'is it sound, compliant and usable in the intended programme?'. A poorly documented car turns into a financial trap very quickly.
