The `RS3 Sedan 8Y`, launched in `2021`, keeps Audi's five-cylinder identity but moves the formula on significantly compared with the `8V`. It is still a very fast and fairly discreet compact saloon, yet it now deserves to be judged much more through its chassis, electronics and torque distribution than through the engine alone. On the used market, you need to look beyond the simple appeal of the five-cylinder badge.
The engine remains the `400 hp` `2.5 TFSI` `DNWC`, paired with `S tronic`, but the real change is the rear torque splitter, which transforms the way the car behaves and adds another major checkpoint. The package is highly effective, sometimes driven very hard, and needs close attention not only on engine and gearbox health but also on the front axle, brakes, tyres, chassis calibrations and the electronics controlling the whole system. A well-followed `8Y` feels brilliant; a badly modified or poorly aligned one becomes disappointing very quickly.
