Launched in `2011`, the `RS3 Sportback 8PA` is the very first `RS3`, with everything that implies: genuine mechanical charm thanks to the turbocharged five-cylinder, but also an older base and a less polished balance than the generations that followed. It still wins people over through its discreet look and soundtrack, yet on the used market it has to be judged first on the real condition of its engine, drivetrain and front axle.

The core engine is the `340 hp` `2.5 TFSI` `CEPA`, paired with `S tronic` and a `quattro` system built around `Haldex`. The engine can take mileage well when maintenance has been serious, but the car has often seen hard use and occasional modifications. You therefore need to watch boost, lubrication, ignition, gearbox health, the rear coupling, the brakes and a front axle that is often heavily stressed on a compact hatch with a heavy nose.
