Introduced in `2021`, the `RS3 Sportback 8Y` keeps the strengths of the `Sedan` but adds the extra versatility of the hatchback body and a slightly less discreet brief. It remains a very fast, very modern compact Audi, and one that is more revealing through its chassis than earlier `RS3` generations. On the used market, you therefore have to look at the electronics and driveline just as closely as the five-cylinder itself.
The engine is still the `2.5 TFSI` `DNWC` with `400 hp`, paired with the `S tronic`, but the real novelty is the rear torque splitter, which changes the car's behaviour quite noticeably. That adds extra checkpoints around the driveline, tyres, alignment, brakes and chassis calibrations. The `DNWC` remains a strong base, but an `8Y` that has been poorly maintained or modified without logic can lose its coherence very quickly.
