Unveiled in mid-2021, the facelifted BMW X3 M F97 LCI sharpened Munich's high-performance SUV with slimmer matrix LED headlights, a larger one-piece kidney grille and the sophisticated central infotainment setup from the M8. More importantly, the Competition variant received the forged lightweight crankshaft from the M3/M4, boosting peak torque by 50 Nm to an enormous 650 Nm. The 510 hp S58 twin-turbo engine delivers its heightened torque across a broader rev band, mated to an updated eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. The rear-biased M xDrive system and electronically controlled active M differential were recalibrated for even sharper turn-in. Massive compound brakes with four-piston front calipers ensure immense stopping power, though they face substantial thermal stress given the vehicle's 2,010 kg mass.
