Facelifted at the end of `2019`, the `S5 Coupe F5 facelift` changes its reading on the European market: less demonstrative petrol coupe, more fast long-legged `GT` with big torque. Against a BMW 4 Series Coupe, it relies less on rear-axle playfulness than on `quattro` traction, long-distance ease and a serious cabin. Used, this phase looks modern and reassuring, but it has to be read as a car that depends heavily on the quality of its follow-up.
The heart of the phase is almost always the `3.0 TDI V6 EA897 evo` with `48 V` mild-hybrid hardware, usually under `DEWB` and later `DMKC`, delivering `347 hp`, `700 Nm`, 8-speed `tiptronic` and all-wheel drive. It is a remarkably effective package when emissions hardware, cooling, the `12 V` battery, the belt starter-generator, restart quality and gearbox servicing are all right. Some non-European imports still bring the `354 hp 3.0 TFSI EA839`, but for this page the real engine to judge is the diesel `V6`.
