BMW M4 Convertible (G83) (2021-2024)

Launched in 2021, the BMW M4 Cabriolet G83 drops the F83's folding hardtop in favour of a lighter fabric roof, while remaining a large and very capable M cabriolet. Against a contemporary Porsche 911 Cabriolet, it leans less on compactness than on power, high-speed stability and genuine open-air touring ability. That makes it attractive, but also heavier and more technical than a simple pleasure convertible.

In this first phase, the range centres mainly on the `M4 Competition Convertible xDrive` with `510 hp`, powered by the `S58` biturbo straight-six. The `8-speed M Steptronic`, `M xDrive`, cooling system and electronic chassis settings are therefore central, alongside the usual cabriolet concerns: roof, seals, water tightness, rigidity and structural noises. A good G83 needs to feel coherent with the roof up or down, without seeming to mask a tired chassis under sheer performance.
