BMW M4 (G82) (2020-2024)

Launched in late 2020 for the 2021 model year, the BMW M4 G82 differs sharply from the F82 through its styling, wider spread of versions and greater sophistication. The coupé becomes bigger, faster and more assisted, while still preserving a true rear-drive sporting identity in some forms. Against a contemporary Mercedes C-Class AMG Coupé, it stands out through traction, body control and high-speed efficiency, provided maintenance matches the performance level.

The core of the line is the `S58` biturbo straight-six. The manual rear-wheel-drive version makes `480 hp`, the `Competition` rises to `510 hp` with the `8-speed M Steptronic`, and the `Competition xDrive` follows in 2021. In 2022, the `M4 CSL` pushes things to `550 hp` with more radical chassis work and weight reduction. On this early phase, engine, cooling, gearbox, any all-wheel-drive hardware and the coherence of the chassis software all need watching together.
