From `2020`, the `S3 Sportback 8Y` pushes the formula much further with a digital cockpit, more driver aids and a much clearer technology bias. Against a BMW 3 Series, it remains more compact, more playful and more practical as a five-door. As a used car, it makes sense only if electronics and mechanicals have been followed with the same discipline.
The core package is the `2.0 TFSI DNF` with `310 hp`, `S tronic` and all-wheel drive. Engine, gearbox and driveline can work very well when servicing and thermal care are correct, but the `8Y` depends more heavily on software, ADAS calibration and clean electronics than an older `8V`. A good `S3 Sportback 8Y` should warm up cleanly, shift without fuss and stay free of odd messages.
