📖Dacia Duster III: CMF-B platform leap, electrified powertrains and smart tech

Dacia Duster Phase 3 (2024-Présent)

Arriving in 2024, the third-generation Dacia Duster represents a major technological leap forward, transitioning to the modern CMF-B platform. Boasting a striking design, digital instrument clusters and advanced driver assistance systems, modern Dacia Duster maintenance shifts focus away from traditional diesel upkeep towards sophisticated hybrid electronics, software management and electrified powertrains.

The engine line-up is entirely electrified or gas-powered. The ECO-G 100 LPG bi-fuel system provides ultra-low running costs, needing dedicated LPG filter renewals and ignition monitoring. The TCe 130 48V mild hybrid pairs a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Miller-cycle turbo engine with a 48V starter-generator, available in front-wheel drive or advanced 4x4. Crowned by the Hybrid 140 multi-mode transmission, this flagship pairs a 1.6 petrol engine with two electric motors and a clutchless dog-ring automatic gearbox.

Owner notes

The reassuring points, known weak spots and deadlines you should not let slip.

Reassuring points

Reliability
  • CMF-B platform delivers class-above chassis rigidity, crash safety and significantly improved handling dynamics.
  • Electrified powertrain lineup offering exceptional urban fuel efficiency without requiring plug-in charging.
  • ECO-G bi-fuel version offers outstanding operating cost savings with seamless petrol-to-LPG automated switching.
  • Retains class-leading off-road capability in TCe 130 4x4 form with generous clearance and all-terrain drive modes.

Chronic weak spots

Keep an eye on
  • Hybrid 140 powertrain: monitor multi-mode dog gearbox shifts, high-voltage cooling circuit and 12V auxiliary battery voltage.
  • TCe 130 mild hybrid: inspect 48V lithium battery state-of-health, belt-driven starter generator and strict synthetic oil changes.
  • ECO-G 100 LPG system: replace gaseous and liquid phase LPG filters and check spark plug gaps to prevent misfires.
  • Software and ADAS systems: ensure ECU calibrations, radar sensor alignments and touchscreen firmware are updated.
  • 4x4 underbody and running gear: inspect terrain mode actuators, suspension ball joints and drive axle boots after off-roading.

Critical deadlines

Do not miss
  • Engine oil and filter change every 15,000 km or 12 months using exclusively manufacturer-specified 0W-20 or 5W-30 low-friction oil.
  • LPG gas filter replacement (liquid and vapour phases) every 30,000 km or 24 months on ECO-G variants.
  • Hybrid system coolant loop inspection and inverter cooling check every 60,000 km or 48 months.
  • 12V auxiliary battery health testing every 12 months to prevent electrical control unit wake-up faults.
