With the facelift launched in summer 2020, the BMW M5 F90 LCI stays visually discreet but mechanically very serious. Against the Audi RS6 and Mercedes-AMG E 63 of the same period, it keeps its very BMW M reading: a big biturbo V8, `M xDrive` able to send a lot of torque rearward and genuine ultra-fast GT ability. It is also a car that does not tolerate vague servicing or neglected consumables.
The core remains the `4.4 biturbo S63`, tied to the `8-speed M Steptronic` and `M xDrive`. The standard M5 makes `600 hp`, the `Competition` rises to `625 hp` and the `CS` to `635 hp`. On this phase, BMW mainly refined the interface, chassis and overall precision, but the maintenance logic remains that of a very large modern M: watch temperatures, follow ignition closely, read cooling seriously and demand perfect coherence between gearbox, all-wheel drive and running gear.
