Restyled at the end of `2011`, the `S5 Cabriolet 8T` sharpens the formula of Audi's first modern `S` convertible with a cleaner presentation, revised steering and an even clearer `GT` brief. Against a Porsche 911, it does not chase radical handling but a mix of pace, `quattro` traction and top-down touring. As a used buy, it therefore needs to be read as a fast, heavy convertible, not just as a lifestyle `A5`.
This `2011-2016` phase mainly uses the supercharged `333 hp 3.0 TFSI V6 EA837`, usually paired with the `7-speed S tronic DL501` and all-wheel drive. Codes `CGWC` and `CGXC` are common. The package is convincing when the cooling system, water pump, thermostat, breather and engine oil changes have been taken seriously. On this phase you also need to read the gearbox from cold, check for smooth pull-away, inspect the condition of all four tyres and make sure the running gear still feels tight.
