The EXT combines Escalade styling with the logic of a short luxury pick-up bed, in a typically North American formula. More spectacular than practical for most European use, it remains sought-after for its very specific appeal. Its frame of reference sits closer to a Lincoln Navigator in pick-up form than to a conventional luxury SUV. This is an image vehicle, but also a tool that has often worked for a living.
The 6.0 V8 and four-wheel drive provide the expected technical base, but the EXT adds its own demands: cargo bed, tailgate, sealing integrity and sometimes hard utility use. Many examples have towed or carried weight, which wears the rear suspension, gearbox and transmission faster than in a closed Escalade. A good-looking body should never make you forget this mechanical reality, especially on cars with large wheels or built for show.
